Walsingham’s boys soccer team earned a hard-fought 2-0 win at home Thursday against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.
The Trojans pressed early on offense, which paid dividends when Konstantin Ries got on the board.
Ries collected a throw in from Landon Gero, turned and ripped a low shot into the corner of the net for the game’s opening goal.
Holding a 1-0 lead, Walsingham played a calmer and possession-heavy style in the second half. Despite the change of pace, the Trojans were able to find the back of the net once more before the final whistle.
In the 87th minute, Max Rinaldi sprinted down the left side, made a couple of Nansemond-Suffolk Acadmey defenders miss and beat the keeper for the game’s final goal.
Walsingham (5-4-1) will face its next task at home Tuesday against Bishop Sullivan.
