Cross-Country: Walsingham Places Well at Greenbrier Invitational

trojansWalsingham Academy had a strong showing during the Greenbrier Christian Invitational at Bells Mill Park in Chesapeake on Thursday.

The Trojans took first place in the girls race by a wide margin — Walsingham had 36 points with the next team, Peninsula Catholic, with 51 — and finished second in the more crowded boys race.

While the Trojans did not have the individual winner in the girls race, the Trojans squeezed five runners into the top 15 places to secure the win.

Camryn Mann and Delaney Riggs finished third and fourth overall, respectively, for Walsingham. Frankie Riggs finished just behind in sixth place.

Rounding out the Walsingham scorers were Grace Vidlak and Kiely Curran, who took 12th and 13th place, respectively.

In the boys race, Walsingham finished with a combined 59 points, which was 33 points back from the winners Peninsula Catholic. Hampton Roads Academy finished eighth overall as a team with 203 points.

Walsingham’s Mathias Cannon led the way with a second-place finish, while Jack Grimson took fifth place. Chris Correll and Jake Lobash finished 15th and 16th, respectively, and Patrick Murphy rounded out the Trojan scorers with a 21st-place finish.

For Hampton Roads Academy, Liam Carr posted the best finish in 14th place. Next up for the Navigators were Dane DiMuzio in 50th place, Ford Silberhorn in 54th place, Thomas Blanchard in 55th place and Jack Howard in 62nd place.
