Sydnie Swartwood scored a pair of goals during Grafton’s 6-1 road win against Bruton on Wednesday evening.
The Clippers kept the Panthers on their heels through almost the entire game, outscoring Bruton 4-1 in the half and taking 18 penalty corners to Bruton’s one overall.
Maysen Elliott, Bruton’s goalkeeper, had a long day between the pipes, making eight saves on 14 shots during the game. Conversely, Grafton’s goalie Laurel Nicks only had to make two saves in the game.
Grafton added a pair of second-half goals to secure the 6-1 win. The Clippers (2-3) will look to string together back-to-back wins when they host Tabb on Sept. 22.
Bruton (2-3) will host New Kent on Sept. 22 and is looking to snap a two-game losing streak.

Smithfield Shuts Out Lafayette
The Lafayette field hockey team fell to Smithfield 2-0 at home Wednesday evening.
Lafayette was unable to find the back of the cage, while Emma Claire Stewart and Rachel Lange scored for the Packers.
The Rams (2-2-1) will hope to rebound at home against Jamestown at 7 p.m. Sept. 21.
