Boys Soccer: Walsingham Streaks Past Banner Christian

trojansWalsingham Academy’s boys soccer team saw plenty of scoring chances during a commanding 3-0 home win against Banner Christian on Thursday.

Konstantin Reis got the Trojans on the board in the first half, finding the back of the next from roughly six yards out for the game’s opening score.

Despite scoring opportunities in the first half, Walsingham was unable to break through again in the first half.

With a 1-0 lead in hand, Kelau Smith struck a 20-yard rocket that deflected off a Banner Christian defender and into the net.

Toward the end of the second half, Landon Gero delivered a corner into the box that found the head of Connor Norris, who was able to finish the ball past Banner Christian goalie Michael Burkett for the game’s third and final goal.

Walsingham Academy (2-1-1) will take a week off before traveling to Christchurch to take part in the Jason Soucek Memorial Tournament.
