The Bruton field hockey team easily handled Northumberland on Tuesday evening, winning 7-1 behind a hat trick from Jessica Robinson.
Bruton controlled the game from the outset, eventually leading to a victory via mercy rule.
Emily Buck joined Robinson in scoring multiple goals, finding the back of the cage twice in the win. Emma Napier and Ashley Ivanoff each scored once for the Panthers.
Jasmine Singletary helped facilitate the Bruton offense with a trio of assists on the night, while Lauren Roth and Caity Washam each assisted on goals.
Bruton (1-0) will have a long layoff and will not continue its season until the Panthers play a road game at Smithfield on Sept. 14.

Jamestown Blows by Northampton
The Jamestown field hockey team got its season started on the right foot, taking down Northampton 6-0 on the road Tuesday.
Jamestown (1-0) will continue its season against Gloucester at home Sept. 9.
