Walsingham Baseball Defeats Tidewater Academy in Five Innings

trojansJack Keating and Beau LeJeune each drove in three runs during Walsingham Academy’s five-inning rout of Tidewater Academy.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Trojans exploded for five runs in the bottom of the second inning to extend their lead to 6-0.

The Trojans added another run in the bottom of the third inning before Tidewater Academy hung two runs in the top of the fourth to cut Walsingham’s lead to 6-2.

Walsingham (4-3) put the game away in the bottom of the fourth inning, erupting for seven runs that extended the Trojans’ lead to 14-2.

Tidewater Academy (2-3) failed to score in the fifth frame, forcing the game to come to a close due to the Virginia Independent School Athletic Association’s 10-run rule.

Starting pitcher Thomas Chisam pitched all five innings, allowing one earned run and four hits.

Walsingham Academy will continue its season at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Norfolk Academy.
