Legion Baseball: Jackson Lifts Poquoson Post 273 to Second Win in a Row

Legion baseballGrafton High grad P.J. Jackson provided the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as Poquoson Post 273 edged Northampton Post 241 5-3 for its second win in a row Wednesday night.

For the game, Jackson went 1-1 with a pair of walks and three RBI to lead Post 273’s offense. Tabb’s Brandon Ferebee chipped in with an RBI double while Ben Phifer drew three walks and scored twice. Post 273 showed excellent patience at the plate drawing a total of 12 walks.

Josh Snow tossed three shutout innings of no-hit ball before Bryce Hinton came on to pitch five innings in relief to pick up the win.

Post 273 jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning and went ahead 2-1 in the fifth before Northampton put a run across in the bottom of the sixth to tie things at 2-all.

After Jackson’s two-run, go-ahead knock in the seventh, Post 273 added one more run in the eighth to take a 5-2 lead.

Reliever Chris Leavey got into some trouble in the ninth after allowing a run on two base hits before striking out the side to earn his first save of the season.
