WILLIAMSBURG — Dream Machine Virtual Reality Arcade will be opening its doors in New Town this summer.
Described as a mesh of retro videogames along with virtual reality games, highlights will include air hockey, board games and console games.
“It’s just a really cool spot for a lot of young people to come and hang out,” owner Brent Monteiro said.
Monteiro’s background is in restaurants, having worked in the industry for 15 years, before deciding he wanted a change and to be part of something he found fun and he was passionate about.
“My favorite game is Rythmatic, which is a lot like Beat Saber,” Monteiro said when asked about his favorite VR game.
The arcade will function by the hour for timed play, rather than charging per game. There will also be snacks and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase, with plans to expand into hot foods, as well as beer and wine.
Currently, Dream Machine aims to open its doors to the public on June 1 next to Blaze Pizza in New Town. A Facebook page is currently live and a official website is coming soon.
