Where We Live: A chef’s kitchen in Virginia Beach that makes holiday cooking easier

Around the holiday season, it’s all about the three “Fs.” You know them well: friends, family, and food.

So what could be more helpful at this time of the year than a large, well-appointed kitchen?

A chef’s kitchen if you will.

The home at 2912 Heron Ridge Drive in Virginia Beach features just such a kitchen and it helps make preparing those big holiday meals a breeze.

“It’s a lovely, modern kitchen. A cook’s kitchen, updated to look just like one on HGTV,” said Anna Paduhovich, the listing agent and a Realtor with Rose and Womble Realty. She said that recent updates included granite countertops, tile backsplash, and new, upgraded stainless steel appliances, including an amazing double oven.

Those updates, she added, make preparing those big holiday meals much less stressful and much, much more convenient.

Configured in a U-shape, the gleaming countertops provide ample surface area for food prep and for the clutter that goes along with fixing a big meal, while there’s a pantry nearby and plenty of cabinets above and below.

The shape also allows for some bar-type seating on one side, which gives the audience a place to sit and watch the real work being done. A built-in microwave and the double oven highlight the setup, while windows allow in plenty of natural light and give the space a bright, open feel.

A breakfast nook is located beside the kitchen, and in addition to providing more seating and eating space, it offers views of the golf course behind the home.

“It’s a great spot to sit with a morning coffee,” said Paduhovich. “The open floor plan makes entertaining a breeze, and the fact that it overlooks the golf course makes this home such a lovely, entertaining home.”

Once the meal prep and eating are finished the entertaining can move outside, where an “estate style” backyard features a large deck and a swimming pool that overlooks the 16th green.

The home is served by Princess Anne Elementary and Middle Schools, and Kellam High School.
