Where We Live: Virginia Beach home with an indoor pool, large workshop

VIRGINIA BEACH — An indoor pool and year-round swimming — something many children would fantasize about.

Just imagine it: snow and cold wouldn’t stop the fun; rain outside doesn’t mean the competitive — and loud — games of Marco Polo must come to a halt inside; and darkness on the other side of the window doesn’t bring the swimming to a halt.

For those children, the home at 2236 Rose Hall Drive in Virginia Beach would be a dream come true.

“This is a cement pool, without a liner, so the maintenance is much less,” said Joanne McElroy-Hall, the listing agent with Atlantic Sotheby’s International Reality. “The pool is heated, so the family will enjoy this indoor playground all year-round.”

There’s even a slide that will add to the fun and games.

When everyone’s skin is wrinkled and they’ve finally had enough of the pool, more indoor fun awaits in the finished basement.

“The home boasts a full basement that can be so many things,” said McElroy-Hall, adding that air conditioning wasn’t even needed since the below ground space stayed so cool.

Currently there’s a sitting area with a fireplace that could easily be an entertainment area; at the other end of the basement there’s a full-sized pool table that fits easily into the space and is sure to entertain future pool-hustlers; and, for the crafty, there’s a large workshop space.

“This is a huge ground level workshop any man would love, said McElroy-Hall. “It’s a big enough space to accommodate the tools and materials needed for any large job.”

The space is clean, dry, and well-lit, and for convenience, there’s also a large double door exit to the outside just a few feet away from the workshop.

The 4,789 square foot home sits on a 1.6 acre lot with mature trees and flowering plants, as well as access to the water. It has five bedrooms and four bathrooms, and even a space for a mother-in-law suite or a guest apartment.

The home is served by Trantwood Elementary, Great Neck Middle, and Frank W. Cox High School.
