The Ninth Annual Art at the River Juried Art Show, originally scheduled for May 8 but postponed due to inclement weather, has been rescheduled for Sunday, May 15 at the Historic Yorktown waterfront.
Thirty-seven artists were selected from Richmond and the greater Tidewater area to participate in the exhibition.
Guests are invited to tour the Riverwalk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to admire local artists’ work, including paintings, pottery, jewelry, glass arts, photography, woodwork, metalwork, and more. A variety of prizes valued at more than $3,000 will be awarded. This year’s judges are Kay Krapfl and Karen Schwartz of Williamsburg.
The Tidewater Turners of Virginia will also return to the event to display their skills and explain their tools and techniques as they make a variety of objects, including spinning tops that younger visitors can take home as souvenirs.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the day from Coastal Thirst and all Historic Yorktown restaurants will be open. The Hampton Roads Winery will offer wine tastings and sales.
The Fifes and Drums of York Town are scheduled to open the show at 10 a.m., with Audio Portrait taking the stage from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Free parking is available at the Riverwalk Landing parking terrace, York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, County Administration Building, and other designated public parking lots. The free Yorktown Trolley runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with several stops throughout town. The event will be held rain or shine.
