JAMES CITY COUNTY — For anyone looking to put in some volunteer work while also learning a few things about small-scale farming, the Williamsburg Community Growers have just the weekly event for you.
The Growers meet every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Community Garden located in the power corridor between Warhill High School and WISC, off Stadium Road.
Chores vary from week to week but could include planting, weeding, harvesting, building fences and moving mulch. A portion of the food grown goes towards local charities.
The Growers’ website says that volunteers should bring gloves and water, but gardening tools will be provided.
There are a limited amount of spots every week, so prior registration is required to participate. Click here for more information or to register.
