WILLIAMSBURG — Liz Moore & Associates, a boutique real estate agency with locations that include Williamsburg, is set to hold its annual Cupcake Wars fundraiser in support of Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.
Starting in 2011, the agency’s Cupcake Wars fundraiser has raised over $159,000 for the local pediatric hospital system.
“This has always been my favorite fundraiser,” said Liz Moore. “The agents and staff are so creative and come up with such clever ideas. Every year they out-do themselves!”
For Liz, raising funds for CHKD is also a personal undertaking. When her son, Grayson, was born prematurely in 1992, he was in the care of CHKD’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
“[He] was 1 lb. 14 oz.,” Liz recalled. “We spent the first 12 weeks of his life commuting daily back and forth to CHKD in Norfolk… It was a very scary time for new parents.”
At two weeks old, Grayson underwent heart surgery. “I can remember praying in the waiting room that if God would carry him safely through it, that I would dedicate my energy to fundraising for the hospital,” she said.
Since that time, Liz has heard many stories of from friends and clients regarding the incredible experiences their families had with CHKD.
“[The] doctors and nurses at CHKD were wonderful, and we knew [when Grayson was in the NICU] we were in the best hands possible,” she said.
Grayson is now 29 years old and Liz notes that he is, “perfect, if you ask me!”
Through the Cupcake Wars fundraiser, Liz continues to support CHKD and the great work that the hospital system does for children all over Hampton Roads.
“I feel blessed to have the opportunity to host events like Cupcake Wars on behalf of the amazing team at CHKD,” said Liz. “We are so lucky to have them in our backyard!”
This Friday (February 11), residents are encouraged to stop by any Liz Moore location between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to make a donation and take home cupcakes in support of CHKD.
