On Wednesday, September 28, 2026, Olga Martello, 96 years old, was called to her eternal resting place.
Olga was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where she met a wonderful young man from the neighborhood named Joe. What began as a friendship blossomed into a lifelong love, and the two were married in 1951. In 1965, Joe’s job brought the family to Newport News, Virginia, where they built a life together and created many cherished memories.
Olga was a devoted homemaker and worked at Nachmann’s until her retirement in 1987, when she embraced her most cherished role, becoming a full-time, loving grandmother.
Olga was a devoted catholic and long-time member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. She was an active spousal member of the Knight of Columbus and the Italian American Club. Olga enjoyed bus tours to Atlantic City and Dover to play the slots or the occasional poker game. She was also known for her annual holiday parties.
Olga was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, and friend. Her life was rooted in faith, and her greatest joy was the deep love she shared with her family.
Olga is preceded in death by husband, Joseph Martello; parents, John and Vera Levisenkoff; daughter, Kathy Dixon; grandson, Matthew Dixon, and granddaughter, Amanda (Barnes) Aiona.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Joanne and son-in-law, David Barnes of Newport News; granddaughter, Kristie Croft and husband, Jerry (JJ), of Newport News; grandson, Michael Dixon and wife, Kelse of Newport News; Brandon Aiona of Monterey, California, the husband of her late granddaughter, Amanda Aiona and great-grandchildren, Payton, Bellamy, Joseph James (JJ), Kainoa, and Braxton.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Weymouth Funeral Home for their compassionate support, guidance, and care throughout the funeral arrangements and services.
The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 100 Harpersville Road, Newport News, Virginia 23606.
