Wayne Vincent Bartlett departed this life on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Born on August 19, 1950, in Williamsburg, VA, he was the son of the late Prie Cornelius Bartlett and Lucy Wallace.
Wayne grew up in the York County area and graduated from York High School. He worked as a Custodian Supervisor for James City County, retiring in 2007 after twenty years of dedicated service.
Wayne enjoyed sports and bowling. He really loved playing horseshoes, and won several championships that he and his partner, Morris Piggott, competed in Williamsburg and the surrounding areas. He enjoyed telling funny stories and making people laugh. Some stories may have been true, and some were stretched, but his contagious laugh kept friends and family entertained. He was grateful for life and would often thank God for waking him up every day.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother Milton Wallace, grandmother Vivian Bartlett, and grandfather Fletcher Bartlett.
Wayne leaves a loving family to cherish his memories: daughter, Desiree L. Bartlett of Wilson, NC; three sons, De`Von Taliaferro and Adrian Keys Sr. (Nichillo), both of Gloucester, VA, and Mario Robinson of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Prie Cornelius Bartlett of Williamsburg, VA; sister, Kay Darnell Bartlett Gray of Williamsburg, VA; ten grandchildren, Makari Bartlett and Rodney Holden, both of Wilson NC, Maurice Robinson, Mario Robinson Jr., Mariah Robinson, and Marissa Robinson, all of Philadelphia, PA, Mariah Keys, Lillie Keys, Christina Keys, and Adrian Keys Jr. all of Gloucester, VA; A special friend and partner, Rosalind Moore; a lifetime friend, Morris Piggott; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Whiting’s Funeral Home, with a viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
