Nicholas “Nick” Morgan Lynch, 65, went home to be with the Lord on August 24, 2026. A native of Hampton, Virginia, Nick made Newport News, Virginia, his home for the past thirty-nine years.
A proud Crabber, Nick graduated from Hampton High School with the Class of 1979. He continued his education at Hampton Institute, where he earned a degree in accounting as a member of the Class of 1983.
His education led to the beginning of a long and dedicated career in civil service. Nick began his career at Fort Monroe and later joined the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), where he served as a Senior Auditor until his retirement. During his years at DCAA, Nick worked alongside a special group of colleagues who became much more than coworkers. They embraced him as one of their own, creating friendships and bonds that extended well beyond the workplace.
Throughout his life, Nick lived with sickle cell anemia, facing its challenges with remarkable strength and perseverance. He never allowed the disease to define who he was or overshadow the things that mattered most to him: his family and simply enjoying life.
Nick was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church Jefferson Park in Newport News, Virginia. His faith journey later led him to First Baptist Church Denbigh, where he worshiped for a period of time.
Above all, Nick’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. Nothing meant more to him than being surrounded by the people he loved. He also enjoyed listening to jazz music, taking pictures, watching National Geographic, and watching sports. Anyone who knew Nick knew of his love for football and that his favorite team was the Los Angeles Rams. Whether watching a game or talking about his team, he showed unmistakable loyalty to the Rams.
Nick will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dayron Givens, and his parents, Lois Lynch and Isaac Lynch Sr.
Nick’s legacy of love lives on through his loving wife, Romonia Givens Lynch; two daughters, Corie K. Johnson and Morgan A. Song (Segene); and his grandson, Tesan M. Song; brothers, Isaac Lynch Jr. (Barbara) and Preston Lynch (Valerie); mother-in-law, Barbara Givens; father-in-law, David Givens Sr. (Sylvia); brothers-in-law, David Givens Jr., Michael Givens Sr., and John “Jay” Jones Jr.; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Sears and Rondollyn Evans; special cousins, Lisa Greene and Charles “Chuck” Cox; nephews, Travis Lynch (Bianca) and Michael “MJ” Evans Jr.; nieces, Karen Briscoe (Andre), Nadia Sears, and LaRanda Bright; good friends who will cherish Nick’s memory, Archie Lewis, Anthony Midgette, Roy Savage, and Benny Fulton; his cherished neighbors, Jim and Marilyn Caroll; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones.
