Joyce Patricia Champignie-Heron (Vincent Funeral Home)

Joyce Patricia Champignie-Heron, 63, of Halifax, Massachusetts, passed away on August 9, 2026, at her second home in Quinton, Virginia.

Joyce was the daughter of Edward and Anne Lydon. She grew up in Kingston, Massachusetts, where she attended Sacred Heart High School. Following graduation, Joyce continued her education at Endicott College.

Joyce was the loving wife of William Heron and a devoted mother to Leigh Fitzgerald, Cameron Champignie, and Kyle Champignie. One of her greatest joys in life was being a beloved “Mimi” to her grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply.

For more than 25 years, Joyce dedicated herself to the field of education. She leaves behind a lasting impact on countless children and families throughout her career.

Outside of her work, Joyce found happiness in the simple things she loved most—spending time at the beach, getting lost in a good book, and, above all, being surrounded by her family. Her greatest joy came from the time she shared with those she loved.

Joyce will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her dedication to her students, and the love she gave so generously throughout her life. Her memory will live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, family, friends, and the many lives she touched.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Halifax Estates Community Center, located at 33 Redwood Drive, Halifax, MA 02338.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce’s memory to an organization she held close to her heart, Autism Speaks.
