Sandra Kaye Owens, 82, passed away at 1:52 a.m. on August 11, 2026. Sandra was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and, to so many, simply family.
Born Sandra Kaye Brady in Conway, Arkansas, Sandra grew up there before leaving as a young adult and eventually making her way to Richmond, Virginia. It was there that she met the love of her life, Warren. They married and shared 53 years together, building a life centered around family, faith, friendship, and a love of people. Warren passed away three and a half years before Sandra, but their love remained an important part of her life.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Lee; her daughter, Windi Anne; her stepson, Warren Lee Jr.; her parents, E. L. and Agnes Brady; her brothers, Kelsey Brady and E. L. Brady; and her sisters, Maxine Grimes and Mildred Lane.
She is survived by her son, Kevin; her daughter, Cindi (Fellows); her step-son Kenneth; granddaughters, Marissa, Amanda, and Teasha; grandson, Jordon; step-grandchildren, Brannan Holdren and Bradley Fellows; and step-great-grandchildren, Maddox, Kamden, Bennett, and Trevor.
Family was everything to Sandra. She was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren and could talk about their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. She was their biggest cheerleader and treasured every moment she had with them. But Sandra’s family extended far beyond those related to her by blood. She simply did not believe in strangers. People she met quickly became friends, and friends quickly became family. She loved helping people and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, cared for, and at home.
When her children were in middle and high school, Sandra worked for the New Kent County School System as a bookkeeper and secretary in the principal’s office. She made a lasting impression on the students, families, and staff she encountered. Years later, people still remembered her kindness, her willingness to help, and the way she made them feel. Sandra later brought that same warmth and dedication to her work at Colonial Williamsburg. She worked with special events, where she had the opportunity to meet heads of state and dignitaries and helped with the planning of Colonial Williamsburg’s 300th celebration. She later worked in Colonial Williamsburg’s Electronic Classroom as a secretary and bookkeeper, where she also answered questions from schools participating in live classroom broadcasts. She loved being able to help and connect with people, and her work gave her yet another opportunity to make a difference.
After retirement, Sandra and Warren started a karaoke business together. They loved being around people, and the business gave them another way to bring people together, laugh, listen to music, and make memories. It was a perfect reflection of who they were.
Sandra’s faith was also an important part of her life. She loved her church family at Christ Community Church, where she and Warren were rebaptized together. Her church family was a source of great joy, friendship, and comfort.
Sandra’s life was full—not because of titles or accomplishments, but because of the people she loved and the people who loved her. She gave her time freely, celebrated others wholeheartedly, and had a way of making people feel like they mattered.
She will be deeply missed by her family, her church family, her lifelong friends, and the many people whose lives she touched.
Sandra didn’t just make friends—she made family. And she leaves behind a lifetime of love that will never be forgotten.
A funeral service will be held 9 AM Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Christ Community Church, 9001 Richmond Rd. Toano, VA 23168. The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 8 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. Interment will follow services at Washington Memorial Park.
