Jeffery Wade Sims, CSM, U.S. Army Ret. a devoted family man and passionate adventurer, passed away on August 4, 2026, in Newport News, VA, at the age of 70. Born on April 12, 1956, in Winnsboro, SC, Jeffery lived a life full of purpose, energy, and love.
A proud veteran, Jeffery dedicated many years to serving his country with honor as a Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army. After retiring from distinguished military service, he continued to contribute his skills and expertise as a government contractor for KBR and later as a driver for Snyder Trucking. Never one to shy away from hard work, Jeffery also owned and operated his own electrical business, showcasing his talent and entrepreneurial spirit.
Jeffery’s passion for technology was evident to all who knew him. He found immense joy in dismantling and rebuilding computers, always eager to embrace the latest advancements. His adventurous spirit extended beyond technology, as he was an avid biker and wakeboarder, and even competed in the Ironman Challenge in 2020. The thrill of boating and the rush of rock music, especially tunes by AC/DC, were among his many passions.
A handyman at heart, Jeffery believed in staying busy and tackling any project that came his way. His unwavering faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him strength and inspiration. Above all, Jeffery treasured his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Sims, and his parents, Buddy and Lizzy. He is survived by his loving son, Adam Roberson, cherished grandchildren Anthony and Jaden, dear sister Gloria Gardner, and a host of cherished friends who will miss him dearly.
Through his legacy of love, laughter, and perseverance, Jeffery Wade Sims leaves behind an indelible mark on the lives he touched. May his memory be a guiding light and source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
