Catherine Patricia Ruane, 97, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Born on February 2, 1929, in New York, Catherine lived a life defined by unwavering faith, deep devotion to her family, and a genuine appreciation for life’s simple joys.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine Crystal and the devoted wife of the late Thomas F. Ruane. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter, compassion, and lasting memories.

A graduate of Walton High School in the Bronx, New York, Catherine enjoyed a successful career as an insurance underwriter. While she took pride in her work, it was her nurturing spirit and many talents outside of the workplace that truly defined her. An exceptional cook and baker, Catherine delighted in preparing meals and treats that brought family and friends together around the table. She also found joy in sewing and knitting, creating handmade gifts that became treasured keepsakes for those she loved.

Curious and engaged with the world around her, Catherine was an avid reader who enjoyed staying informed about current events. She had a lifelong love of music, especially the timeless classics of the Great American Songbook. She embraced opportunities to travel, relishing the chance to experience new places and cultures. At home, she enjoyed watching golf tournaments and rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy!

Above all else, Catherine treasured her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Cathy, Jean, and Tom; her ten grandchildren; and her three great-granddaughters, who will carry forward her legacy of kindness, strength, and unconditional love.

A faithful member of St. Bede Catholic Church, Catherine’s steadfast faith guided her throughout her life. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, quiet wisdom, and the grace with which she cared for those around her.

Though she will be deeply missed, Catherine’s love, values, and cherished memories will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
