Eileen Frances Carney Osinski, 92, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born on August 29, 1933, in Buffalo, NY, to Gerald and Edith Coughlin Carney. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Buffalo State Teachers College. On November 26, 1959, Eileen married the love of her life, Raymond Osinski, and spent the next nearly twenty-nine years laughing with him.They were a great couple who brought that humor to so many of their family and friends.
Eileen taught for many years in the North Tonawanda School District before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She also worked in the Liverpool Central School District as a teacher’s aide and tutor. In her later years, she pursued a lifelong interest in health care by obtaining her credentials as a respiratory therapy technologist, a profession she enjoyed until her retirement.
To her family, she was quirky and fun with a witty sense of humor and an amazing way with words. Eileen was a phenomenal gourmet cook with many signature dishes. She loved a perfectly crafted martini, and the color orange. Her favorite holiday was Halloween which her family referred to as her “high holy day.” In her view, Halloween was always just around the corner and opened the conversation to her preferred classic horror movies. Eileen was a skilled seamstress who could make a great outfit even better with her own special touches and sophisticated sense of style. And as a friend recently commented, Eileen had a “joyful curiosity” about life and anything that interested her, from politics to world geography to technology. She was deeply loved and will be missed for the beautiful child of God that she was.
She was predeceased by her father in 1943, her mother in 1973, and her beloved Ray in 1988.
Eileen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Tim, with whom she lived. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Mary Kate and husband, Michael, great-granddaughter, Piper, and a new baby coming in 2027. Eileen’s nieces, Debbie, Robin and Paula also survive her. She maintained lifelong friendships that she cherished with Molly and Sue, Mike and Kathy, Helen and Bill and their families as well as Susan and Bill.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. John Miller and Nicole and the staff of Riverside Penisular Cancer Institute, Dr Meenal Walia and her staff at Riverside Internal Medicine and Family Practice, Riverside Hospice and Palliative Care Team and caregiver, Natasha, for their loving and gentle care of Eileen for these past two years.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 31 at 12 noon at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond, VA with Father Tony Marques officiating. She will be interred in Saint Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Buffalo at a later date.
Flowers are gratefully declined, but if you wish to remember Eileen, please just make someone in your life laugh out loud. No remembrance would please her more.
