William M. “M.C.” Lipscomb, 86, of West Point

William M. “M. C.” Lipscomb (Vincent Funeral Home)

William M. “M.C.” Lipscomb, 86, passed away peacefully at home at sunrise on June 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the memories, wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love he shared throughout his life.

M.C. was a man of many talents, unwavering determination, and remarkable skill. Throughout his life, he wore many hats, including truck driver, paper mill foreman, scuba diver, trapper, boat builder, knife maker, furrier, caretaker of Custis Mill Pond, and track and football coach. There was little he could not build, repair, operate, or figure out. He believed in hard work, took pride in doing a job well, and was always willing and able to lend a helping hand.

M.C. was born at Foxes Plantation on the banks of the Mattaponi River. He was truly at home outdoors—on the nearby rivers, creeks, ponds, and in the woods—which he considered his church. He loved fishing, hunting, trapping, archery, boat building, and crafting beautiful handmade knives. Nature was more than a pastime; it was part of who he was.

Of all his accomplishments, M.C.’s greatest joy was being a husband, father, Grandaddy, and Great-Grandaddy. He treasured every moment with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will always remember riding four-wheelers with him, hearing his stories, learning from his example, and simply being near him.

Of all the things M.C. cherished, nothing meant more than his family and the life he built with his beloved wife. He always looked forward to her homemade bread, pies, cookies, and the meals she prepared with love. Together, they built a life rooted in faithfulness, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Wherever the day took them, they could often be found holding hands—a quiet sign to everyone around them of a love that lasted through the years.

M.C. loved a good western and was a lifelong fan of John Wayne. He valued the courage, honesty, loyalty, and hard work those stories represented—and lived by those same principles. His own stories, shared freely with family and friends, were just as memorable and entertaining and will be cherished by all who knew him.

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, skilled hands, generous heart, and his musical whistling that followed him wherever he went. To those who loved him, that whistle was a comforting sign that Grandaddy was nearby.

M.C. leaves behind a family who will forever treasure the lessons he taught, the memories he made, and the love he gave so freely. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rose; his daughter, Rose (Warren) Williamson; his son, Clint (Alissa) Lipscomb; his grandchildren, Kristina (Brandon) Beasley, Mitchell (Lesley) Lipscomb, Rachael Cammiso, and Travis (Natalie) Lipscomb; and his seven great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Beasley, Jace Cammiso, Bryson Lipscomb, Dean Cammiso, Everly Cammiso, Bonnie Lipscomb, and Kane Lipscomb.

As we say goodbye, we will remember Grandaddy watching westerns, riding his four-wheeler, casting a fishing line, and filling the air with his familiar whistle. We will remember the love he shared with his wife, the joy he found in his family, and the many memories he created with those he loved. Though he is no longer beside us, his spirit will remain in our hearts forever.

The family will hold a private service.

“A life well lived leaves footprints on the hearts of those left behind”. M.C.’s footprints will remain with us forever.
