Billy “Bill” Sherrill Bradley, 87, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026 in his home.
A graduate of Newport News High School, Bill was an accomplished basketball player. He enjoyed a long career as a drafter with Newport News Shipbuilding, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and dedication.
Bill took great pride in his home and yard, spending countless hours keeping them well maintained. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, school activities, and performances and was always happy to welcome family into his home. In later years, he attended Olivet Christian Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and Ike Lara; his sisters, Louise and Cindy; and his brother, Jack.
Bill is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda Bradley; his children, Mark Bradley (Kim), Tammy Lezotte (Dan), and David Bradley (Amy) and his stepchildren, Stacey Gregg (widow of Jeff Gregg) and Mike Marse (Julianne).
He was a proud grandpa to Sabrina (Martijn), Chase, Matthew, Jordan, Aidan, Brandon (Katlyn), Tyler, Carley, Alex, Ashton, and Phillip. He was also blessed with wonderful great-grandchildren, Oliver, Baker, Jace, Avery, and Adrian.
By Bill’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. The family respectfully requests that flowers not be sent but to just remember Bill fondly.
Bill will be forever loved by his family and remembered for his unwavering sense of responsibility, the pride he took in his home, and the quiet loving support he showed his family.
