Suji Mun Sowalskie, born on December 22, 1937, in Korea, gracefully departed this world on June 13, 2026, at the age of 88, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, due to natural causes. Her life was a tapestry of creativity, love, and elegance, inspiring everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Suji’s journey through life was marked by her dedication and talent. Professionally, she contributed her expertise to the Golden Sands Motel, where she was known for her unwavering work ethic and attention to detail. Her professional endeavors were just one facet of her remarkable life.

An accomplished seamstress, Suji possessed an exceptional ability to transform fabric into exquisite garments and home décor. From crafting beautiful outfits to stitching cozy blankets, she created countless pieces that brought warmth and beauty to her home and those around her. Nothing gave her more satisfaction than making things better than she found them.

Beyond her needlework, Suji was an outstanding cook, delighting family and friends with her authentic Korean dishes. Her culinary skills were celebrated far and wide, and her kitchen was always filled with the aroma of love and tradition.

In Korea, Suji also shared her passion for dance as an instructor, gracefully teaching and inspiring her students with every step. Additionally, she pursued higher education, earning an associate degree, further demonstrating her commitment to personal growth and lifelong learning.

Suji’s family was the heart of her world. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Donald; her beloved children, Dean, Ann, and Linda; her cherished granddaughter, Evelina; and a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Suji will be laid to rest privately at Hampton Memorial Gardens, where her spirit will continue to inspire all who visit.
