Patricia P. Grow, 74, of Providence Forge

Patricia P. Grow (Bucktrout Funeral Home)

Patti went to her heavenly home on June 12, 2026 with her sister by her side. Patti lived in Providence Forge on her horse farm for more than 30 years. She met her future husband, Gary, in high school and they married after he served his country in the Vietnam War.

Born in Berryville, Va, Patti’s passion for horses was strong at a young age. Her parents moved the family from farm to farm so Patti could have her beloved horses close. She and her husband continued to live on horse farms throughout their life together and enjoyed their horses, dogs, cats, even a pig or two. Her love for animals was strong and in her later years she consistently rescued senior dogs to give them a safe and loving place to live out the rest of their lives. Her peaceful place was the mountains, owning property in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia and the Spanish Peaks area in Colorado. She enjoyed Native American art and could frequently be seen at local Pow Wows.

Patti attended Radford College and graduated from Rappahannock Community College with an Associates degree in Computer Science. She worked as a dental hygienist for a local dentist for many years and retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural route carrier and shop steward 20 years ago.

Patti is predeceased by her husband, Gary Grow; parents, George and “Petie” Pope; and brother Randall. She will be lovingly remembered by by her sister, Mary Pope Laboy of Williamsburg; and sisters-in-law, Deb Freed and Libby (Mike) Wiley; many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews; and her best bud, Kona.

A service for Patti will be held at Bucktrout of Williamsburg on July 10th at 2:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following the service. Inurnment will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made online to the New Kent Sheriff’s Office Animal Protection Unit or a charity of your choice.
