Tommy Levert Dalton, 64, of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully at his home on May 21, 2026, due to complications from a previous stroke.

Born on January 13, 1962, in Brighton, Tommy was the beloved son of Willie James Dalton and Alma Louise Asberry. Raised in Brighton, Tommy remained proud of his Alabama roots throughout his life.

In 1982, Tommy answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. During his military service, he traveled to Germany twice and was later stationed in Demopolis. Following his service, Tommy dedicated 19 years of hard work to STIHL before retiring in March of 2025.

Tommy’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He shared 40 loving years of marriage with his devoted wife, Regina Gregg Dalton. The two were married in Birmingham and built a beautiful life together centered around love, faith, and family. Together they raised five cherished children: Tameka LaShelle Dalton, Tasha Dalton, Renee Dalton, Tia Lashaun Dalton, and Taquan Mostafa Gregg.

He was also a proud and loving grandfather to 11 grandchildren, whose lives he treasured deeply. Tommy found immense happiness in watching his grandchildren grow into smart, strong, and intelligent young people.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Regina; his children and grandchildren; and his sisters, Valerie Dalton, Gloria Nollie, Gwendolyn Royster, Vivian Dalton, and Lynn Bishop.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny Dalton, Pete Dalton, and Willie Dalton.

Known for his generous heart and selfless nature, Tommy was the kind of man who always put his family first. He would give his last to ensure his children were cared for and everyone around him was happy. His kindness, strength, and unwavering love made him truly special to all who knew him.

Tommy graduated from Brighton High School and later earned his associate degree from Tidewater Community College, an accomplishment he was very proud of.

A devoted sports fan, Tommy loved watching Alabama Crimson Tide football and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles. His favorite player was Jalen Hurts.

Tommy was Baptist by faith and lived his life with compassion, humility, and devotion to those he loved most.
