Shirley Hazelwood Parsley, 89, passed away at her home on Tuesday May 12, 2026.
Shirley was born to Riley and Mattie Hazelwood on May 28, 1936. She was a graduate of Toano High School and a lifelong member of Liberty Baptist Church. She loved working on her flowers in her yard and spending time with her family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James R. “Jimmy” Parsley; an unnamed infant son; and five brothers, Charles, Norman, Richard, Forrest Lee and Jerry Hazelwood.
She is survived by her two sons, Mike Parsley (Sandra) and Everett Parsley (Janet); four grandchildren, Matt Parsley (Jenny), Sara Troup (Chris), Eric Parsley and Kevin Peddicord; two great-grandchildren, Griffin and Sophia Troup; her brother, Ralph Hazelwood and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.
