With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Doris Elizabeth Tabb, who was called home to be with the Lord on May 16th, 2026.
Born on February 22nd, 1942, to the late Theodore and Arlene Hampton Bell, she attended Ruthville High School, and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was employed at Circle D Mart for many years, where her dedication and warm smile encouraged everyone that she ever encountered. You could often find her sitting at her kitchen table, enjoying her coffee and soap operas, and calling to check up on her children, grandchildren, and other family members. She loved to care and cook for others and would give anything that she had to anyone. She was famous for her delicious rice pudding and salmon cakes. She had a feisty personality, and was never afraid to speak truth, but at the same time, she would make you laugh and give you wise counseling, even if you didn’t want to hear it.
She was welcomed home in Heaven by her late sons Kerry, and Ashton Tabb Jr., her grandson, Robert G. Tabb, her beloved sister, Ernestine Allen, and also other extended family members.
Beautiful memories will forever live in the hearts of her loving children, Sherry Washington (Lorenzo), Rhonda Wallace (Howard), Ronnie Tabb, and Yvette Jones (Robert); a caring brother, Franklin Brown; one nephew, Savalas Allen; one brother-in law, Irving Tabb, Jr. (Valeria); sisters-in-law, Camilla Thorpe(Clarance), Paulette Tabb, and Marie Chapman; seven precious grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, two devoted friends, Rita Cousin, and Wanda Adkins; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other dear friends.
Our sweet matriarch can never be replaced, and she will always be cherished, and forever live in our hearts.
A funeral service will be held 12Noon Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Little Elam Baptist Church, 8840 Church Lane, Charles City, VA 23030, with a viewing taking place one hour prior to services.
