“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing”. 2 Timothy:6-8
John Archie Lee Sr. peacefully entered into eternal rest on April 28, 2026, at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. He was born on January 23, 1940, to the late James Roy and Mattie G. Lee.
He received Christ as his personal Lord and Savior early in life and was a faithful member of Chickahominy Baptist Church until his health prevented him from attending.
John was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public School System. He was previously employed at The Williamsburg Pottery Factory. After leaving the Williamsburg Pottery Factory, he had various landscaping jobs in the Williamsburg area.
He loved gardening and would spend hours on landscaping and beautifying his own property. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors in nature. He cherished spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his sons, John Jr. and Alton Lee; grandson, Carlos Lee; daughter-in-law, Ruby Lee; four brothers; two sisters; four brothers-in-law; and five sisters-in-law.
John leaves behind to cherish his fond memories his loving and faithful wife, Lavonia Lee; his loving daughter, Sharon Braxton (Joseph); son, Kevin Lee; devoted grandson, Rico Lee; sister-in-law, Rosetta Bowan; fourteen grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends.
