Robert Lee Moritz, 77, passed away peacefully in April 2026, and was honored with a dignified Honor Walk at the Jones & Cabacoy Veterans Care Center in Virginia Beach.
Robert was born in 1948, in Missouri. He was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University and proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran in both the United States Army and the United States Navy.
Following his military service, Robert continued his dedication to his country through his work as a civil service contractor at Norfolk Naval Base, where he was employed as a mailing and shipping clerk until his retirement.
Robert was an active member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 20 (Virginia Beach), Vietnam Veterans of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4809, and First Baptist Church of Norfolk. He was known for his service, commitment, and connection to his fellow veterans and community.
He also had a deep love for history and geography and was known as a bit of a “history and geography buff.” Robert never met a stranger—he loved to socialize wherever he went and especially enjoyed being around others at any gathering. Above all, he loved to dance, a passion that brought him great joy throughout his life.
He leaves behind loving family and friends.
Robert will be laid to rest with military honors at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
