Lawrence Elmer Reeher, Jr. (“Larry J”), 56, passed away on April 12, 2026, at his home in Newport News, Virginia.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Larry was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose joyful spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Christopher Newport College and went on to build a career he truly loved as an MRO Specialist with Liebherr. Larry took great pride in his work and cherished the friendships he made with his coworkers.
Larry’s greatest joy in life was his family. He loved nothing more than spending time with them, especially cooking his signature meals like his famous noodles and chicken noodle soup. He had a generous heart and found happiness in surprising his girls with little gifts, always thinking of ways to make them smile. A dreamer at heart, Larry loved planning adventures and recently fulfilled a bucket-list trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee—an experience he treasured.
He especially loved spending time with family at Lake Gaston and looked forward each year to celebrating the Fourth of July at the beach in Nags Head, North Carolina—traditions that brought him great happiness and created lasting memories with those he loved.
Known for his fun-loving nature, kindness, and sense of humor, Larry was a true goofball who kept everyone laughing. He had a playful spirit and loved asking the most unexpected questions just to make people think. Whether he was cracking jokes or hiding around a corner to give someone a playful scare, he brought light and laughter wherever he went. He truly was a child at heart.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Elmer Reeher, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Heather; his daughters, Hayden, Jordyn, Riley, Carson, and Addison; his mother, Mary Ann Frederick; his sister, Joy Gorman (Skip); his nephew, Eli; and many extended family members and dear friends who loved him deeply.
A Celebration of Larry’s life will be held at a later date, with details to be shared in the coming month.
Larry will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love, laughter, and joy he brought into the lives of others.
