Deborah Lancaster, 58, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Newport News.
Born in Maryland, Deborah moved all over the world with her family as her father was in the military. Deborah graduated from Menchville High School in 1986. After graduation, she went to Thomas Nelson Community College and later Riverside Regional Medical Center to train as a Diagnostic Radiographer. She later began her career at the Hampton VA Medical Hospital for 33 years before retiring.
She was kind, funny, and overall, a one in a million type of person. She was known for her caring nature, always lighting up a room and putting others first. Deborah loved people and spending time with family, taking walks, enjoying vacations, watching movies, listening to music, and simply being together with those she loved deeply.
She is survived by her daughters, Courtney Lancaster and Catherine Lancaster; the father of her children, Joe Lancaster; her father, Robert Secord of Boston; and many loving family members in Boston, Maryland, South Carolina, and elsewhere. She is also survived by Catherine’s best friend, Christina Clanton and Christina’s child/Deborah’s grandson, Elias Clanton. She was predeceased by her mother, Delores Secord, and her brother, Mark Secord.
There will be no memorial service or funeral as she wanted everyone to remember her how she was when she was alive.
