Frederick George Richard Schreiber (Fritz), 91, passed away on April 3, 2026, in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Born in New York City on November 15, 1934, to George Willy Rudi Schreiber and Anna Marie Schreiber, he graduated from Friends Academy in Locust Valley, New York, and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Following this, Frederick embarked on a lifelong career in non-ferrous metals beginning with a year at Norddeutsche Affinerie AG, a cornerstone of West Germany’s post-war industrial recovery in the metals sector. His career was briefly interrupted by two years in the United States Army Signal Corps stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany. Following his service, Frederick became a successful non-ferrous Metals Trader.

On March 12, 1960, Frederick married Annemarie Röder in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Returning to New York on the Steam Ship (SS) United States, they went on to raise two sons and a daughter: Christopher, Mark, and Micheline; they recently celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary.

After many successful years at The Ore and Chemical Corporation of Metallgesellschaft AG, Frederick co-owned Lambros Metals before starting on a new path. He returned to school at Hofstra University and then began a second career with the United States Department of the Treasury, retiring in 2004.

An avid sailor and miniature ship modeler, Frederick Schreiber was well-liked by all who knew him; capable of many surprises, he famously sold his Manhasset Bay One Design for one dollar after discovering yet another leak in its wooden hull! As a father he set a positive example and inspired those he loved to always persevere and achieve their full potential. A man of deep faith, our father combined a stoic approach to life mixed with a sharp wit and an eye for a good cognac — a combination which ensured there was never a dull moment!

He is survived by his spouse, Annemarie; sons, Christopher (Veronique), Mark (Sarah), daughter Micheline (Brian) Peters; and four grandchildren Victoria, William, Maxime and Raphael along with two great-grandchildren Sophia, Felix and one on the way.

We will miss him and celebrate knowing he is with our Lord and Savior. Services will be held at Christ Church Manhasset, New York at a later date.
