Bruce Miles Tyler, 89, born March 6, 1937, peacefully entered into eternal life on Resurrection Sunday, April 5, 2026.
She was the oldest of nine children, and they were reared in Charles City, VA. Bruce was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Charity; a father figure, Lorenzo Charity; her grandparents, Arthur and Alice Miles, and one sibling, Marian Charity.
Bruce was educated in the Charles City Public School System and was a proud graduate of Ruthville High School. She was employed as a personal assistant to Bruce Crane Fisher, the owner of Westover Plantation of Charles City, VA, for over 50 years.
Bruce lived her life by putting others first. She was a born again Christian and a faithful, and devoted Servant of the Lord at Gilfield Baptist Church for many years. She served in many capacities at Gilfield which includes being Treasurer for several years, Deaconess, President of the Trustee board, Hospitality, and member of several choirs. Because of her love for Flowers, she displayed her gift of floral arrangements to beautify Gilfield, as well as other places. In her opinion, they had to be live flowers, not artificial. She was especially particular with proper placement and didn’t mind correcting you in a kind manner. She did all things with a spirit of excellence. Bruce was also a kind and compassionate person, who was willing to meet the needs of others.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted daughter, Patricia Howard, who Bruce referred to as “Beetle”; her devoted son-in-law, Eugene Howard; five sisters, Odessa Logan (Stewart), Vivian Brown (Dallas), Brenda Charity (Herman), Josie Bell (William), and Daryl Miller (Curtis); three brothers, Lacy Charity (Crystal), Jasper Charity (Lillian), and Lilton Crawley (Francine). She also leaves behind, Randy Miles, who was like a son to her, and Kiarra Miles known as “Dumpling”, who was like a daughter; her godson, Tyson Charity; devoted family members, Roland and Otelia Charity, Odell Miles, and Karen Black Crewe, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
