It is with profound sadness and deep admiration for a life lived fully and generously that we announce the passing of Michael Anthony Owens, who departed this world on February 20, 2026, at the age of 25 in Virginia Beach, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
The heavenly gates opened on February 20 to welcome our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. Born in Brandon, Florida, on July 27, 2000, Michael A. Owens was the youngest of three children to his parents, Billy and Linda Owens. From the very beginning, Michael was a beacon of light whose kindness and warmth touched everyone he encountered.
From a young age, Michael’s zest for life was evident in his love for gaming. Whether he was immersed in the worlds of Halo, Call of Duty, or The Sims, he shared his passions with infectious joy, bringing laughter and happiness to friends and loved ones. His dream of becoming a YouTuber allowed him to connect with others, spreading positivity and entertainment even as he faced personal challenges.
Michael’s beloved character, Stitch from Lilo and Stitch, reflected his unique spirit, a blend of playful mischief and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. Though naturally shy, his humor and gentle heart shone brightly once he welcomed you into his circle. His generosity knew no bounds, and he continually put others first, even during the most difficult moments of his illness.
Above all, Michael was defined by his selflessness. He worried more about the needs and well- being of his family than his own, always wanting to make sure those he loved were okay. That deep, unwavering care for others is what made him such an extraordinary young man and will remain one of his most cherished legacies.
A cherished son of Linda and Billy, adored brother to Patrick and Jasmine, and treasured grandson of Lillie and Donnie, Michael leaves behind a family who will forever honor his memory. He is also survived by his Aunt Tammy; Uncle and Godfather Pat; and a host of cousins – James, Mandy, Kenny W., Mindy, Kirk, Tiffanie, Kenny B., Keysha, and JD — along with countless friends whose lives were enriched by his caring and kind-hearted nature.
Michael’s teachers often described him as a model student, admired not only for his academic dedication but for his respectful and thoughtful spirit. He treated everyone with dignity and compassion, and his remarkable ability to empathize with others made him a source of comfort and understanding to all who knew him.
Though his time with us was far too short, Michael Anthony Owens left an indelible mark on our hearts and lives, reminding us that the most meaningful journeys are those guided by love, empathy, and putting others before ourselves.
