Lauren Bland Jones passed away on October 19, 2026, following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Lauren’s life was marked by resilience and varied experiences. She began her professional journey as an ice performer in Las Vegas before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Over the course of more than thirty years, she served as a registered nurse in both hospital settings and at a Christian pregnancy center, where she provided steady and dedicated care to those in need.
Throughout Lauren’s life, her happiest moments were spent living on the hill, savoring the quiet days and the joyful chaos that came with visits from her grandchildren. She also treasured the many trips she brought the “yummy groceries and support” to the homes that Bo and Anna built together throughout their military journey.
In 2019, Lauren moved to Virginia Beach to be closer to her family, where she enjoyed the coastal community and a quieter pace of life. She is survived by her son, James D. “Bo” Huddleston, his wife, Anna, and her granddaughters, Ashley, Sydney, and Verity. She was preceded in death by her father, John Bland, her mother, Joyce, and her brother, Clayton.
A private family memorial will be held in Florida over the holidays to celebrate her life and the many memories shared in a place she cherished throughout the different seasons of her life. Laura loved all of her animal companions throughout her life.
At the family’s request, memorial donations can be made to the VSPCA or your local animal shelter.
