Janice M. Bryant, 89, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025.
Born August 9, 1936, in Washington D.C., Janice Marie Swartz married Howard Ronald Bryant on June 15, 1963, at St. Francis Xavier Church in the District of Columbia. Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She attended St. Phillips Catholic Church during the 1970s to the 1990s while living in Suitland, Maryland. And then attended St. Olaf’s Catholic Church, from 2000 to 2024 in Williamsburg. Janice retired from the Census Bureau in Suitland, after working over 25 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Howard, their daughter Sharon, her parents and her brother Bobby. Janice is survived by her children, Terrie, Candi, and Michael, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Janice loved her children, grandchildren, and her great grandchild. She loved playing board games like Monopoly, Scrabble, and Checkers with her family, and she was quite the bowler too. There are so many good things to say about Janice, also known as Fuzzy and Grandma Fuzzy by those who knew and loved her the most. She helped her son with spelling words for the big Friday tests. She cared a great deal for all animals, especially her dogs Samson, Abby, and Buster.
Janice would take time for meaningful conversations with her children; all while trying to get ready for her work day. Janice encouraged her children to ride horses, bowl, play soccer, basketball and was her children’s biggest fan. Janice loved taking the train from Williamsburg to spend time with her grandchildren Lucy and Sophie at Candi and Candi’s wife Terry’s house in Alexandria. Janice beamed with pride the day her eldest daughter Terrie married Matthew. She was the best mother and will be missed dearly.
Mom, you are missed, and will never be forgotten. You shared your kindness, humor, and gentle example. Your children, grandchildren, and friends are all better people having you in our lives. Please be at rest, knowing you did a fantastic job while visiting this planet.
There will be a small private ceremony to celebrate Janice and Howard later this year.
