William Cole “Billy” Rhodes, born on April 6, 1962, in Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife, Anna, at their home in Chesapeake, Virginia, on September 5, 2025, at the age of 63.
Billy devoted his career to serving the community as a land surveyor for the City of Portsmouth, a role from which he retired after many years of dedicated service. Following his retirement, he continued to contribute his talents and energies by working part-time at QVC.
A man of simple pleasures, Billy found great joy in the world of cinema. A lifelong Superman fan, he was also especially fond of Star Trek and Star Wars, never missing a chance to see the latest films.
Billy was predeceased by his beloved parents, Joan Bryant and Robert W. Rhodes, Jr. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Anna V. Rhodes, who shared with him a life full of cherished memories and unconditional love. He also leaves behind his sisters, Robbie R. Etheridge and Joan R. Tierney, brothers-in-law Russell, David, and Victor John Velazquez, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his loyal canine companion, Beau.
A funeral service to honor Billy’s life will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake Chapel, located at 929 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23322. A reception will immediately follow the service. Interment will take place at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Billy was a devoted husband, loving brother, and uncle. He loved his family, and he will be greatly missed. He is now at peace with the Lord.
