Elmo J. Robison III, age 65, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and patriot, Elmo lived a life marked by his unwavering dedication to God, family, and country.
Retiring as a Colonel in the United States Air Force, MSC, Elmo served for 24 years. His military career included deployments in support of both the Gulf War as part of Desert Storm, and the war in Afghanistan as part of the Global War on Terror. Throughout his years of service, he received a myriad of decorations including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Air Force Achievement Medal.
A man of deep faith, Elmo was a committed Christian and active member of his community. He earned an MBA among other degrees, and was involved in various professional organizations including the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, American College of Healthcare Executives, and was a lifetime member in the Air Force Association.
Elmo cherished moments with his family, and was passionate about flying, traveling with his wife, and spending time outdoors. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo-Ellyn Robison; daughters, Suzanne King (MSgt Jason King) and Alexandra “Alley” Ray (Jacob Ray); son, Elmo “Jeff” Robison IV; siblings, Beth Essary and Greg Robison; and his mother, Marilyn Bradford. Elmo was the proud grandfather “Pops” to Beckham King, Campbell King, and Selah King.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmo “Buddy” Robison II.
Elmo’s life leaves a legacy of love, honor, and courage and his presence will be deeply missed.
