On Sunday, June 8, 2025, Jerry Winchester Brown, known to many as “BooBoo,” was called home to eternal rest. Jerry was born on February 3, 1951, to the late Dorothy Roberts Brown in the Grove area of Williamsburg, VA.
Jerry received his education in the Williamsburg-James City County School division, attending Bruton Heights and Berkeley until schools were integrated, allowing him to graduate from James Blair High School in 1970. He was a very hardworking young man, working for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, BFI Disposal Company, and Suburban Disposal Company, from which he retired. Jerry did not believe in having idle hands; he also did lawn care for private homeowners.
At a young age, Jerry gave his life to Christ and joined his family church, Little Zion Baptist Church.
In his downtime, he loved to watch his favorite football team, the Washington Commanders, westerns, soap operas – The Bold and the Beautiful and the Young and the Restless, as well as listening to old-time gospel music. However, nothing took the place of spending time with his grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, three brothers, Luther “Dick” Leon Roberts, Langston “Freddie” Warrenfred Brown, and Dexter Antonio Brown; and two sisters, Gladys Marie Givens and Connie Faye Roberts.
He leaves to cherish his memories his four children, Jonathan Wallace (Keischa), Sherrie Brown, Brianna Brown, and Wilbur Wallace; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother Stanley “Pete” Roberts; sisters, Delia Cunningham, Joan Brown, Essie Chamblee, Deborah Strong, and Bonnie Walker (Wayne), all of Williamsburg; brother-in-law Thomas Givens of Hampton, VA; two uncles, Elder Carl Roberts and Mack H. Banks both of Williamsburg, VA; two aunts, Amanda Roberts of Williamsburg, VA and Lillian Roberts of Columbia, SC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends.
