Serge Drillock, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, decorated veteran, and lifelong builder of both infrastructure and laughter, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on August 12, 1942, in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania to George and Eva Drillock, Serge lived a life defined by service, craftsmanship, and an unshakable love for his family.
Serge proudly served 14 years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including time as a combat engineer during the Tet Offensive of 1968 in Vietnam. His courage and dedication earned him multiple honors including the National Service Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal. His military service was a testament to his strength and commitment to his country.
Serge transitioned to civilian life with the same sense of precision and purpose. Professionally, he contributed his skills at EL Hamm and Associates where his career as a civil engineer spanned decades, during which he helped design bridges, roads, and countless structural projects across the East Coast.
Known for his logical, calculating mind and serene demeanor, Serge faced every challenge with composure. Always willing to lend a hand, he could build anything, leaving behind a legacy of creations bot intricate and enduring. His steady presence and generous spirit touched countless lives.
Serge was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eva Drillock. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Brown, her husband, Curt; and his beloved grandchildren, Austin and Emily Brown; his brother, David Drillock, and his wife, Barbara; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who will forever cherish his memory.
Serge will be laid to rest with military honors at Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA, on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
