Jane Bullock Lock, of Virginia Beach, passed away April 7, 2025.
Jane was born February 25, 1942, in Kannapolis, NC to Mary Frances Jenkins Bullock and William Junius Bullock. She was married to James (Jim) B. Lock for 22 years. Together, they had two children: Emily and Marcus.
Jane was both a beloved teacher in the Virginia Beach Public School System and a loyal librarian at Virginia Beach Public Library. Besides her children, Jane’s greatest love was animals of all kinds- especially, her rescues; Sandy, Shelly, Pewee, Mandy, Uggie, Parker and Lennie.
Jane was a dedicated volunteer and had a tremendous passion for both the beach and mountains. She spent many precious moments making treasured memories walking her dogs along The Boardwalk, playing with her grandchildren at Sandbridge Beach and finding peace in the mountains of Transylvania County, North Carolina.
Jane was a precious Grammy to five grandchildren: Dakota, Canyon, Lilyanna, Amara Dawn and Ruthie Grace (Colorado). She was a special Aunt to Bobbie and Bobby Smith (Virginia Beach, VA). Jane is preceded in death by her mother and father (Mary and William Bullock- Kannapolis, NC); Sister (Mary Ann Bullock Ward- Kannapolis, NC); and two brothers (William J Bullock III- Kannapolis, NC and David O. Bullock- Raleigh, NC). Jane will be missed and is celebrated by Children: Emily M. Lock (Michelle)- Norfolk, VA and Marcus J. Lock (Kellie)- Gunnison, CO; Niece: Bobbie B. Smith (Bobby)- Virginia Beach, VA; 5 adored grandchildren; Nieces; Nephews; and many friends and colleagues.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations of money or time be made to your local Animal Welfare Center in Jane’s honor.
