It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Jane Bowling, 89, of Yorktown, VA, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Her family and friends can find comfort knowing she has a relationship with her Lord and Savior; “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” – 2 Corinthians 5:8. A native of Roanoke, VA, Betty has lived on the Peninsula for almost 60 years. She was a proud USAF wife for 20 years, raising her three daughters in MA, CO, MI and VA.
Momma Betty will be remembered for her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. She loved vacations in the TN mountains with family, gardening and arts & crafts. When she could no longer walk without assistance, she loved daily rides on her golf cart while taking in all the beauty God provides. Every day was an opportunity for another adventure. Momma Betty loved her Facebook Friends and interacted with them daily.
She was one of 10 children of parents, James and Lillie Hall.
She was preceded in death by her parents; all her siblings; her daughter, Mary Curlee; her granddaughter, Heather; her former husband, Raymond Bowling and companions, Yancey Bridges and Hubert McDaniel. Betty is survived by her daughter, Betty Evert and companion, Bill; her daughter, Carol Pember and husband, Donny; her son-in-law, John Curlee; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
