Born in Pittsburgh on October 16th, 1947, Linda Berry passed away in Williamsburg, VA on February 3rd, 2025. She was preceded in death by her loved friend and cousin, Mark Glasgow, and former husband, Joseph Berry.
Linda graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, proudly working her way to a bachelor’s degree via night school.
She was a devoted Catholic and previously very active in her church in Pittsburgh for many years. She was an avid reader with a massive prized book collection, as well as a writer and painter. But above all was Linda’s devotion to her family, cherishing her life as a full-time mother and grandmother.
Linda is survived by her children, Deirdre Jakabcsin and husband John; Ian Berry and wife Emily; and Brendan Berry, as well as grandchildren, Eric Jakabcsin, Bridget Jakabcsin, Indigo Berry, Charlie Berry, and Bohannon Berry. She also leaves behind her dear mother, Ruth Schad and siblings, Debrann Schad, Charles Schad Jr., Kenneth Schad, and Diane Schad Amos.
Linda leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love for her family and she’ll never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her name to the World Literacy Foundation, honoring her lifelong love of reading and learning.
