Dorothy Bell Kelly, 90, was born on May 27, 1934. She became an eternal angel on January 26, 2025, at Hospice House of VA Beach, surrounded by love, with her family by her side.
Born and raised in Henderson, NC. Dottie/Dot (as she was affectionately known) attended the Vance County public school system. After graduating high school, she married Willie Kelly of Henderson, NC. Together, they had a daughter, Helen Kelly. Dottie, with her mother, sister, and husband Willie, relocated to Jersey City, NJ.
Dottie went on to work at the famed Lockheed Martin and Dranetz Technologies until her retirement in 1992. Upon her retirement, Dottie relocated to Virginia Beach in 1992 . It was in her new beloved hometown where she became a Founding Lifetime member of the Tidewater chapter of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). She was an active volunteer and activist in her Virginia Beach Community and especially enjoyed working with the AARP. She was an active member of several different ministries of Union Baptist during her 30 years of membership. It was her church family that she loved and adored so much. Dottie was always known for being a classy, stylish, and organized woman from her young life to her distinguished life at the age of 90.
Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Kelly; parents, Walter and Mary Alice Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Esther and Bill Rogers; great-grandson Willie Edward Barnes.
Dottie is survived by her daughter Helen Kelly, her two grand daughters Crystal and Cicely, three great grandsons Arren, Keith, and Tyson, and a host of especially beloved family and friends. She has a new address now. You can call on her in Heaven.
