Edna E. Hill, a beloved and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, in her home state of Virginia at the age of 89. Born on March 12, 1935, in Virginia, Edna led a life full of kindness, wisdom, and gentle guidance, enriching the lives of all who knew her.
A dedicated professional, Edna worked at Texaco for many years, where she displayed an admirable work ethic and a fierce dedication to her responsibilities. Beyond her professional life, her personal passions were many, including her love for crochet, reading, and cooking. She was particularly known for her mouthwatering fudge and delightful pineapple casserole, treats that brought joy to family gatherings and community events alike.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and as a faithful member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Edna found strength, purpose, and a sense of belonging within her church community. Her spiritual commitment and devotion were evident in her daily actions and interactions, serving as an inspiration to those around her.
A woman of elegance and grace, she was always put together, exuding a warmth that was complemented by her love for the color pink. Edna was known for her kindhearted nature, coupled with a no-nonsense attitude that won her the respect and admiration of friends and family alike.
Edna’s family was the heart of her existence. She was a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother, cherishing moments spent with her sons Patrick his wife Patricia, Michael, and Ralph. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Clayton, Jordan, and Jennifer, and her great-grandchildren, Adeline, Alyssa, and Braxton, who will carry forward her values and spirit.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Hill, and her parents, William and Dorothy Boyer, Edna’s memory will forever be treasured by her surviving family members and the countless others whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, January 30th at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive in Virginia Beach. A graveside will take place the following day at Colonial Grove Memorial Park on Friday, January 31st at 11 AM.
