It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vincent G. Brackett, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend.
Vincent passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, at the age of 81. A resident of Charles City, Virginia, he was born on December 17, 1942, in Coplin Plantation, Maine, to his parents, Alice LeClair and Sherman Brackett.
Vincent attended Stratton-Eustis School before joining the United States Navy, where he honorably served his country and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. After completing his distinguished military career, he pursued higher education and earned a master’s degree from William and Mary. From 1992 to 2006, Vincent worked as a Systems Analyst and Research Assistant for the NASA Langley Lidar Group at SAIC, Inc.
In March 1965, Vincent married Shirley Bonnell, the love of his life, with whom he shared a journey filled with love, adventure, and steadfast commitment to their community. He leaves his devoted wife, Shirley; his son David (Scharlene) Brackett; his daughter Lisa (Brad) Joyce; and his grandchildren, Joshua (Casey) Joyce, Hannah (Blackstone) Green, and Gabriel Joyce. He was also blessed with two great-granddaughters who brought him immense joy. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Lynn (Elizabeth) Brackett and sisters Cecile Newell and Bettina Sirois.
Vince was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Peter and Daniel, and his sister Vivian Flanders.
Vince found joy in simple pleasures, especially riding his tractor. He was deeply involved in the church community and had a passion of lifelong learning. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the legacy of dedication to family, service, and community he leaves behind.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service, details of which will be announced at a later time.
