June Kasparek, age 98, Williamsburg, Virginia entered eternal rest on November 2, 2024.
June was married to Floyd Kasparek who preceded her in death in 2001. Her sister, Dorothy Copper, preceded her in death in 2023 at age 99.
June is survived by her son, Dale Kasparek; grandson, Jason Kasparek, his wife Stephanie and two great grandchildren, Kieran and Flynn. June is survived by nieces and nephews, of whom, Candy, daughter of Dorothy, was particularly close – June thought of Candy as the daughter she always wanted and Candy’s husband, Eugene as a second son. June also developed a family-like relationship with Dale’s best friend from high school, Rich and his wife Glenda. Candy, Eugene, Glenda and Rich visited June recently as did Jason, Stephanie, Kieran and Flynn making her 98th birthday special. June believed the visits to be the last.
The family appreciates the help of neighbors. One neighbor, Becki, was June’s nurse Nightingale. The family extends their warmest appreciation to Becki for her friendship and care.
June was a former resident of Jeannette, Pennsylvania and Canton, Ohio. She was a dedicated member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Toano, Virginia, where she enjoyed planning trips, social activities, and was an active fundraiser. June had served as the Activities Planner for the former Historic Triangle Senior Center in Williamsburg, where she also planned trips and socials for seniors. She was an avid gardener all her life until issues with mobility and wet macular degeneration forced her to retire from those activities. June was known for her strong will and determination, which along with the help of skilled medical professionals once enabled June to leave hospice, return to daily life and live sufficiently long to hold, know and love her two great grandchildren. June asked to be remembered with this poem, Afterglow by Helen Lowrie Mitchell.
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow when life is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun, of happy memories I leave when life is done.
June will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at the Vaia Funeral Home in Delmont, Pennsylvania. Calling hours will be Friday 4:00-6:00 PM and Saturday 10:00-11:00AM with a short service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be alongside her late husband in Twin Valley Cemetery, Delmont, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, in her planning, June requested that donations be made to her quaint country church in Toano, Virginia: Mount Vernon UMC, 7801 Church Lane, Toano, Virginia 23168-9110.
