Louis “Lou” Hale Byers Sr, lately of Williamsburg VA passed peacefully on Saturday September 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Lou was born on July 28, 1937, to John “Jack” Byers and Loretta Sheridan Byers in Swissvale, PA. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jack, Tom and Jim and sisters Loretta and Mary. After high school Lou spent 4 years in the Navy.

Lou was married to the two great loves in his life. Polly Tewes Byers, his first wife who preceded him in 2001. They were married for 38 years and resided in Falls Church, VA. He was then married to his high school sweetheart Theresa “Terri” Jackson Byers for 22 years and resided in North Versailles, PA and Williamsburg, VA.

He is survived by his wife Terri, six children Bill (Karen) Jackson, Barb Youngk, Lou (Melanie) Byers, Jr., Mary Jo Touchton, Chuck (Vicki) Jackson, and Patrick (Susan) Byers, 14 Grandchildren Christopher James, Christopher Scott, Justine, Anthony, Emily, Rachel, Ashley, Philip, Jason, Brittany, Micheal, Kyle, Tyler and Alex along with 13 Great Grandchildren Calvin, Caleb, Maddy, Patrick, Noah, Phillip, Grayson, Riley, Carson, Annabelle, Freya, Ambrose and Haiven and his sister Cecilia Hudak of Cincinnati, OH.

In younger days Lou was very involved in the Cursillo movement, square dancing, the Knights of Columbus and his parish of St. James. He worshipped daily by attending Mass, devotions, and prayer on the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN). He was also an avid reader of Western novels.

A Funeral Mass will be said at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg, VA at 1 p.m. on Friday September 20th, with a reception to follow at the church.
