Donald Nelson Messer, 81, of Charles City VA, passed away on July 30, 2024.

Donald was born on October 3, 1942 and was a veteran, who served in the United States Air Force. He was a hardworking man, he served as Vice President of the BCTGM Local 358 Union, and later retired from Nabisco after 35 years of service as a mechanic. Donald loved the outdoors, he was an avid gardener, enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and friends, and his greatest love was hunting. You could also find him working out in his garage. Donald was also a member of Providence United Methodist Church, in Quinton VA.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Howard (Jake) and Etta Breeding; his brothers, Clifton and Johnny Messer; and his sisters, Jeanne Chewning and Brenda Breeding. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Bonnie Messer; his children, Yvonne Bakouris (Dimitri), Rebecca (Becky) Poole, Richard Palmer, Carol Harris, Robert Mangum (Kristie), Wayne Mangum (Barbie), Sheila Urbina, and Bonnie Schrum; Forty-one Grandchildren; Thirty Great Grandchildren; and his brothers, Ronnie Staton (Barbara), Howard (Bubba) Breeding (Leslie), and Harold (Jay) Breeding (Shirley).

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Providence United Methodist Church, 4001 New Kent Hwy, Quinton, VA 23141.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140.
